Just curous if anyone here has ever heard of this and if they have any input on its purpose?? According to the website it is a force of volunteer who assist the state of GA in emergency situations... Almost sounds like a volunteer state militia... Just curous...

The Georgia Air and Army Guard is under the command of the POTUS and the Governor. The GDF , just the Governor. If the Guard is away and there is a state emergency the GDF fills the gap or a disaster in general the Governor can activate. The GDF is not paid. If called on by the Governor they possible can be paid. Just not sure.
